Achieving our Vision involves Eight Focus areas. The Board of Governance and the College Executive will ensure the school is administered in a way that is consistent with these Strategic Directions and the vision, values and mission approved by the Directors.

Focus Areas:

1. Discipleship


1.1 Expect Biblical standards of conduct and holiness from all students, staff and others involved in the management or operations of the College. 1.2 Continue to edify believers through the free exercise of spiritual gifts, seek to bless the Lord and be known for enthusiastic praise and worship. 1.3 Demonstrate the fruit of the spirit and challenge students and visitors with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

2. Learning and Development

2.1 Provide courses and other learning opportunities that develop students’ gifts, Christian values and understanding of a Christian worldview. 2.2 Develop leadership skills within our student body so they can inspire and lead their families, churches and local communities as they mature into adults. 2.4 Keep up to date with employment opportunities and provide courses that reflect these needs. 2.5 Monitor current and projected demographic changes in the environment and respond to the trends.

3. Curriculum and Teaching Practice

3.1 Seek to achieve the highest educational standards. Employ best practice teaching and learning strategies and explore educational innovations. 3.2 Be known as a community of innovation.

4. Student Care

4.1 Expect Student safety and welfare to be a high priority for staff as they teach students in a warm, friendly and respectful environment. 4.2 Meet the individual learning needs of all enrolled students.

5. Human Resources

5.1 Support staff to develop the highest standards of teaching competency. 5.2 Committed to work in partnership with students and families to achieve spiritual growth in our students. 5.3 Ensure Directors and all staff are active members of their church and live by the College statement of faith.

6. Facilities and Growth

6.1 Demonstrate sound financial stewardship and careful planning of the College's resources. 6.2 Become a double stream Kindergarten to Year 12 College at the Waples Road site by 2007 with its own Prep. Department. 6.3 Evaluate the viability of expansion strategies such as mature age educational programmes.

7. Community Partnerships

7.1 Continued affiliation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) or the replacement organisation, as long as the Directors agree with their charter. 7.2 Support the growth of Christian schooling and seek ways to collaborate with other Christian Schools. 7.3 Grow and prosper, providing inspiration and leadership to the Christian community in the Illawarra. 7.4 Build a community of partnership between, parents, staff, churches, government authorities and local community by frequent consultation and information sharing. 7.5 Identify opportunities for the Senior College to develop strong links with local industry and with tertiary educational services in the Wollongong area.

8. Governance, Policy and Administration

8.1 Ensure that the College remains a ministry of the Lighthouse Church.
